Lakewood is located 15 minutes southwest from downtown Denver, and was recently named as a winner of America’s “All-American City” award by the National Civic League.
As Colorado’s fifth largest city, Lakewood offers over 103 parks with more than 7,200 acres of open space and 107 miles of multi-use trails. Hidden high in the foothills to the west of Lakewood lies Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, one of the world’s most famous concert venues and the only naturally-occurring, acoustically “perfect” amphitheatre. The geological phenomenon hosts the world’s top performing artists in the summer, spring, and fall, as well as non-musical shows such as Yoga on the Rocks, and hiking trails.
Lakewood’s downtown area, Belmar, recently completed redevelopment and offers over 80 shops, restaurants, and a movie theatre. Colorado Mills is another Lakewood shopping mall located off I-70 with a variety of stores, dining options, and an IMAX theatre.
40 West Arts, Lakewood’s creative district, lies on the historic West Colfax corridor and has over 120 creative businesses, including galleries, performing arts venues, public art installations, and bars and restaurants. Lakewood’s West Colfax corridor is also home to Casa Bonita, one of the most famous restaurant entertainment venues in Colorado with a 30-ft waterfall where divers jump in choreographed sets, live action puppet sets, and mock gunfights.
